I had no idea that Siskiyou County had a French countryside hidden up in the hills, featuring a luscious lavender farm and townhouse to complete the atmosphere! Not to mention the unbeatable view of Mt. Shasta.
I visited the Mt. Shasta Lavender Farms for the first time a few years back with my friend as she was engaged and collecting lavender sprigs for her bouquet and decor. What an experience! Strolling along the rows of deep purple blooms, with woven basket in hand, snipping prime lavender and taking in the view.
In 2015 the Lavender Farms closed for replanting and renewal but they will open to the public again in 2017! I am very excited for their reopening, many locals know of the lavender farms but have not experienced it themselves, so I am planning another trip out there for a refreshed memory and a big bouquet of sweet lavender for my kitchen!
Understandably, Mt. Shasta Lavender Farms is easy to miss and known by few because of its tucked away location and short season. Hopefully, you will take advantage of this information and visit them as soon as they open! My favorite time to visit is mid to late July, when everything is in full bloom and the aroma carries you back to that french countryside…
